Resin and precious metal jewellery.

About Amy
My work draws inspiration from my drawings of botanical forms as well as my photography which explores colour and light. I therefore aim to create jewellery which retains the fluidity of the drawn line by transferring my linear drawings from paper onto the surface of my pieces through a variety of techniques. I am also fascinated by the optical distortions created by facets and layers of clear resin. I will employ a combination of precious metals, perspex and opaque and translucent resin to achieve pieces which are colourful, wearable and, through the strange optical qualities, tactile despite their hard surfaces.
Although I am not directly influenced by trends within the fashion world I am drawn to its ever changing colour and glamour and aim to create contemporary pieces which are striking yet wearable and therefore relevant to a design conscious wearer.
My work employs bold shapes, bright colours and hard surfaces but at the same time retains a softer, lighter, more feminine feel through the botanical imagery and elements of translucency. This is a contradiction which I like and hope adds interest when the pieces are worn and examined.
Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in June 2007 I have exhibited with Dazzle both in London and Glasgow. Other exhibitions and stockists include: New Designers, Islington; The Scottish Gallery, 12 Degrees, Covet and Precious, Edinburgh; The White Gallery, Dundee and Diana Porter Contemporary Jewellery, Bristol.
